Tokyo Turnips
Reviewed By: W. Woodward (Vernon, AZ)
Last year we grew turnips for the first time and did the purple-top variety. We tried this Tokyo hybrid this year and planted them in the same beds as Purple Tops. I was out weeding one day, and was shocked to find that I already had baseball-sized Tokyos, while the PTs were all still around golf-ball size. We found that both the greens and the roots were just terrific. Next year, we're cutting out the kohlrabi and doing much more of the Tokyo Hybrids, and many fewer Purple-Tops. Really huge, lush plants at Zone 5, 7000+ feet altitude.
