A real treat!
Reviewed By: Julie (Pendleton, OR)
We grew this for the first time last year. We had never grown any popcorn before. Anyway we were skeptical on if it would taste decent. It was the BEST popcorn we've ever had, next year we will be planting 5X as much! The kids loved it as a snack. We jut put it into a large pan with about 1T coconut oil and popped it the old fashioned way, then added a little butter and salt. Everyone we let try it couldn't beleive we grew it ourselves and it was a huge hit. We had to start rationing it because it is almost gone now. We just stored it on the cob and rubbd the dried kernels off as we needed to cook them. They seem to store well and they are super easy to grow. We grew it on a warm south facing side of our home that tends to get hot and dry and it still produced about 4 ears per stalk. We grew about 12-18 stalks. Hope you give it a try. Also I have read not to grow popcorn varieties near any other kind of regular corn or it might cross pollinate.....this was the only kind of corn we had room to grow so it wasn't an issue for us....just something to keep in mind in case you grow other kinds of corn. The stalks seemed to take up about 1/2 the normal space of normal varieties, grew about 8ft tall and the stalks were abot 1" in diameter.
