Comments: Short day. Not a storage onion. Highly tolerant to Pink Root. Extra sweet. Onion grown as Vidalia in Vidalia, Georgia. Extra sweet, large firm, flattened, white, 4-5 inch globes with yellow skin. Short day: Bulbs form when days are 12 hours or less. Best grown in the south. Long day: Bulbs begin to form when days are 15 hours or longer. Best in the north. Able to plant 4-5 weeks befor final spring frost.Onions are quite hardy. If delayed planting occurs, store in a cool, dry place not subject to freezing. Plants can be wrapped in a moist towel, placed in an open plastic bag, and stored in the crisper of the refrigerator for 1-2 weeks. Water frequently (one inch per week) as onions are shallow rooted. Harvest mature onions when the tops turn brown and look pinched at the point where they connect with the bulb. To store, cut off the stem one inch above the bulb. Store bulbs in a cool, dark, dry place in shallow open trays.
