Comments: Mix peat moss, compost, or aged manure deeply into the soil. Very slow to show growth after planting or in spring. Mottled bark appears on older trees; bark shreds attractively on new canes. Autumn foliage is red to dark purple-red . Mature trees display interesting, mottled bark. Trees should flower the first year, but will produce heavier flowering during second or third season. Make excellent container grown trees. Pot may be sheltered outside or brought into an unheated area and kept just moist.
