It was only a tiny little plant when I received it now it is 6ft tall already and the butterflys flock to it as well as bees. We all really enjoy it! The color is just wonderful and the fragrance is subtle and sweet my favorite that's for sure...Thanks for offering great plants for my enjoyment. - Saturday, September 19, 2009Butterfly bush Reviewed By: Rick (Alt, OK) I would have rated this bush 5 stars, but I had great difficulty getting them started and ended up replacing several plants to get one survive (almost 3 to 1). Henry Fields was super about replacing the plants that didn't survive and did so without question. This thin bush really attracts butterflies and bees as well as other insects, some interesting, some not. I've seen Painted Lady, Monarch, Phaon Crescent to name a few. It brings in Ruby Throated hummers as well. The fragrance is outstanding, but it is light, unlike honey suckle or wisteria. I would recommend a lot of plants for stronger fragrance...better for the draw of insects too. It is is big bush, mine are 5' plus and just about as wide. I have 4 (purple and light blue)that take up quite a bit of area. Intermixed with various roses, the island makes for a beautiful setting in my vegetable garden. Overall: tough to get started, but once established it is tough to kill even with rototilling near by (6"). I hope this helps you. Read More Reviews |
