Also called Purple Passion in Gurney's. SPECIAL CONSIDERATIONS: MOUND THE TOPSOIL SLIGHTLY, SPREAD THE ROOTS OVER THE MOUND AND COVER THEM W/ 2 INCHES OF SOIL. FILL IN THE TRENCH AS THE PLANTS GROW. REMOVE WEEDS BY HAND OR BY SHALLOW CULTIVATION. ASPARAGUS IS A HEAVY FEEDER THAT REQUIRES REGULAR APPLICATIONS OF FERTILIZER. APPLY A 10-10-10 FERTILIZER; 3-5 POUNDS PER 100 SQ. FT. IN THE SPRING BEFORE NEW GROWTH STARTS. HARVEST: 2 & 3 YEAR OLD CROWNS CAN BE HARVESTED LIGHTLY THE 2ND YR. AFTER PLANTING. 1 YR. OLD CROWNS CAN BE HARVESTED LIGHTLY THE 3RD YR. AFTER THE 3RD YR, SPEARS MAY BE CUT SEVERAL TIMES A WEEK SNAP OR CUT TENDER IMMATURE STALKS BELOW THE SOIL SURFACE. PENCIL SIZE IS BEST.
